Girl, Read This Book: A Review of Girl, Wash Your Face

Unless you have been living under a rock, you have probably heard about Rachel Hollis and her best selling novel, Girl, Wash Your Face. Maybe your book club is reading it this month or your best friend is raving about it. Maybe your girlfriends from work told you that you absolutely must read it. Or the moms in your neighborhood keep mentioning it.

No matter how you heard about it, I’m sure it’s on your radar and you are curious. And now you are wondering if you should really, truly spend the time to read this trendy book, right? Well, I’m going to side with everyone else and say yes. You should definitely invest the time and energy because it is 100% worth it.

Why you should read Girl, Wash Your Face

The book has over 5,000 five star reviews on Amazon (grab your copy here) and was a #1 New York Times Bestseller. Those are impressive stats, but the real reason you should read it is Rachel.

Rachel Hollis looks like a supermom. She is beautiful, has a great marriage and four adorable children. Rachel runs and a media company. She also juggles her personal life and traveling while making it look seamless and easy. She appears perfectly put together, but Rachel has no problem exposing the chaos behind the scenes of her own life.

Throughout the book, Rachel shows you that even the women who appear flawless have fears and doubts. Each chapter focuses on a lie she has told herself over the years. These include things like I need to be thinner, I’m a bad wife, I’m a bad mom and all I need is a man. I’m willing to bet that you have told yourself many of the same untruths throughout your life.

After a few chapters of Girl, Wash Your Face, you feel like you are talking to your best friend. Rachel is honest and charming. She is empowering without being preachy. Her dry wit keeps you reading way past the time you should have gone to sleep.

I’m a big fan

When I finished the book, I promptly followed her on Instagram and subscribed to her newsletter because I wanted to keep in touch and up to date with Rachel, her family and her life. Yes,  she gets in your head that much and makes you a total fan-girl. To get your copy and get to know Rachel in all her messy glory, click HERE. I think you are really going to like her.
